Slouching toward minimalism
One of my to-do list items (inspired by Daily Standards) this week mutated mid-air from “Fill a trash bag from basement” to “Fill a trash bag”. Why? I’m not in the basement this week. I’m in my bedroom closet, or the hall closet, or the laundry room closet, or the drawers in my bathroom, or my bedside table.
I’m cleaning out what’s closest first.
Today was the laundry room/mud room closet. I’ll be taking some old coats to charity, and some too-big jackets to be tailored. (If they can’t be tailored, off to charity they will go).
I’m now five days into this. When I’m feeling itchy at my desk, I get up for 15 mins to an hour and fill a bag. Feels good, man.

Two weeks of travel, Ten iPad lessons
Traveling with the iPad is liberating. The TSA does not require the iPad be removed from my bag and that makes going through security that much easier. In addition, shedding five pounds of travel weight is wonderful as well. Just those two factors help to make up for some of the shortcomings.
Leave the laptop out. I’ve been traveling for pleasure or business with my iPad and it’s in fact liberating, easier, lighter and overall cool.

There needs to be less of:
- Me
- My stuff
- My baggage
- My anxieties
- Things I put between me and success
